The media aide to opposition leader Bobi Wine, Jonah, has opened up about the difficult conditions the National Unity Platform principal endured during the recently concluded general election campaign trail.
Speaking during an appearance on the Saymore Official YouTube channel, Jonah revealed that Bobi Wine faced numerous hardships while moving across the country to mobilize supporters. According to him, there were several nights when the opposition leader slept hungry after failing to secure supper following long days of campaigning.
Jonah said that despite the exhaustion and the demanding schedule, Bobi Wine would wake up the following morning and continue with campaign activities, determined to push on with what he described as the struggle for change.
He also recounted a particular incident in Madi-Okollo District, where the team reportedly failed to secure accommodation befitting a presidential candidate. As a result, they were forced to spend the night in a modest lodge after failing to find a better place to stay.
According to Jonah, the experiences reflected the determination of the National Unity Platform leader, who he said often encouraged members of his team to remain strong and continue pushing forward even when they were physically weak.
Jonah added that the current situation, in which Bobi Wine is reportedly keeping a low profile following the election period, does not surprise him when it comes to the hardships he may be facing.
He explained that although Bobi Wine is widely known to be a wealthy individual, he has chosen to sacrifice a comfortable life in order to fight for equality and justice for Ugandans.
“Bobi Wine has a character of wanting to see everyone around him happy,” Jonah said during the interview, adding that the opposition leader’s desire to create a more equal society is what pushed him to dedicate his life to the political struggle.
The revelations provide a glimpse into the behind-the-scenes challenges faced by the opposition team during the heated campaign period that saw candidates traverse different parts of the country in search of voter support.
