FK Promotions is set to host a vibrant family entertainment event dubbed “Katoogo Paka Kejenge” this Saturday, February 7, at Katoogo Playgrounds, blending children’s back-to-school celebrations with music, comedy, drama and live band performances.
According to the organisers, the event is designed to cater for both children and adults, creating a full-day experience that begins as early as 9am with activities tailored specifically for children. For a fee of Shs5,000, children will access a dedicated play centre featuring bouncing castles and other fun activities to mark the back-to-school season.
Adults attending the event will be treated to a range of interactive entertainment, including a novelty football match between married and single participants, with the married team playing in traditional kanzu attire while the singles take to the pitch dressed in suits.
Adding to the variety of the day’s programme, popular video jockey VJ Fried will provide live translation of an Indian movie, while a live band session is scheduled to entertain revelers throughout the event.
Music lovers can also look forward to performances from a strong lineup of Ugandan artistes, including Hajjat Sophie Nantongo, Kazibwe Kappo, Gloria Mara, Half Man and Tabula Junior. Comedy will be provided by Maulana and Reign, promising moments of laughter for the audience.
The event will further feature a live stage play by FK Dramactors titled “Omuntu Awewedde”, a production reflecting on the recently concluded general elections. The play will feature seasoned actors such as Pelenawa, Tereza, Nakapiito, Namyenya, Rhona, Striker, Brendah and Aisha.
In a strong social impact component, Tendo Foundation will use the event to award bursaries to 300 students, including 150 primary school pupils, 100 secondary school students and 50 university students.
As an added incentive, every attendee will receive a free bottle of soda courtesy of Coca-Cola. Additionally, attendees are encouraged to come with their national IDs, as MOGO will be offering loan phones to eligible participants.
Entrance fees have been set at Shs10,000 for ordinary tickets, Shs20,000 for VIP, Shs200,000 for a table, while children pay Shs5,000.
The organisers have called on families and entertainment lovers to turn up in big numbers for what they describe as a unique community event combining fun, culture and social empowerment.
