Police in Kampala have identified a 34-year-old man as the suspect behind the brutal attack at a daycare centre in Ggaba that left four children dead.

According to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Rachael Kawala, the suspect, identified as Christopher Okello, is alleged to have murdered four children one girl and three boys at the Ggaba Early Childhood Day Care Centre.

Police confirmed that the suspect is currently detained at Kabalagala Police Station, as investigations into the shocking incident continue.

“The motive behind the suspect’s actions remains unknown, and investigations have been launched,” police said in an official statement.

Preliminary findings indicate that the attack has sent shockwaves through the community, raising urgent concerns about the safety of children in daycare and early learning facilities across the city.
