The family of the late Kizito Mukalazi, the proprietor and director of Hormisdallen Schools, has released the tentative funeral program ahead of his final send-off.
Mukalazi, who was widely known for his contribution to Uganda’s education sector through the establishment and growth of Hormisdallen Schools, passed away recently, leaving behind a legacy that touched thousands of learners, parents, and education stakeholders.
According to the family, the funeral arrangements will begin on Sunday with a special session for all former and current parents, former and current pupils, as well as former and current teaching and non-teaching staff of Hormisdallen Schools to pay their last respects.
This tribute gathering will take place at Hormisdallen School, Gayaza, where mourners are expected to celebrate his life, reflect on his contribution to education, and honor the legacy he built over the years.
Later in the evening on Sunday, a night vigil will be held at his home in Namulonge, where family members, close friends, and well-wishers will gather in prayer and remembrance.
On Monday at 10:00 AM, the body will be taken to Christianity Focus Centre (CFC), Mengo Kisenyi, for a memorial and thanksgiving service. The church is led by Bishop David Kiganda, who has been Mukalazi’s longtime pastor and spiritual mentor.
The memorial service is expected to attract religious leaders, education stakeholders, political leaders, and members of the public who wish to pay tribute to the fallen educationist.
After the church service, the body will be transported to his family country home located at Kagembe along the Ssemuto Road, where another night vigil will be held.
The final burial ceremony will take place on Tuesday, April 28, at the same family home in Kagembe-Ssemuto Road, where relatives, friends, and the wider community will gather to lay him to rest.
Mukalazi’s death has been received with shock and sadness, especially among the Hormisdallen Schools community, where he was admired for his commitment to academic excellence, discipline, and mentorship.
Many former students and parents have described him as a visionary leader whose passion for education helped shape many successful lives across the country.
As preparations continue, the family has called upon friends, former students, and well-wishers to join them in giving him a dignified farewell.
Further updates regarding the funeral arrangements are expected to be communicated by the family.
